Day 12, Kuantan - Pekan

One of our break spot...
Another day dawns on the bicycle: we got up at 6:30 am, tidied our stuff and prepared our food.  A positive is that the free hotel breakfast starts at 7 am. Because I take care to not be lacking energy and also because I am a little greedy, I ate a big plate of chinese rice, toast and some omelette. Question: Do you think it is better to carry food in my bag or directly in my stomach? Today, we rode for 50 kms, mainly along the sea. The problem is that the weather is hotter on the coast than we were used to in the countryside. So, we wanted to arrive before noon in Pekan.

Pekan

We got a second breakfast break once we reached the beach. My food theory works, only Katie ate... From there the road was straight, with little traffic and with hens, cows and sometimes monkeys waving at us. OK, this hot weather definitely  altered our percecption. More seriously, we are in general very welcomed, children are often excited to see us and shout: "Hello? Where are you from?".
Our second stop was at a dead end. We were convinced that there must be a bridge not marked on our map - we were wrong (hot weather as mentioned before).

Guest's rest house

The rest of our route was a bit painful, we had misjudged our tiredness and were too afraid of cycling in the sun. We are still learning, tomorrow we should think more about our energy levels than our speed.
We finally arrived at Pekan, which is not close to the sea, at 12:30. We rested in a cyber cafe and after found a nice hostel called "Chief's Rest House", that is charming. For dinner, we shared a table with Australians in a chinese restaurant and ate fish.
