Day 44, Hue to Dong Ha - the day of noodle soup...

On the road again...

It was time for the cycling to start again. 72km up Highway 1 towards Dong Ha, where the turnoff for the border with Laos is situated.

Luckily for us, it was a cloudy and overcast day (not too hot) and this helped us maintain a good pace. After 2 hours, we had already covered 50km, so we stopped for a bowl of fish noodle soup that a Vietnamese grandma had cooked up in a big pot. Spicy, but possibly one of the best things I have eaten in Vietnam.

We carried on towards Dong Ha. There was not much traffic and the road was mainly flat, but  there was not that much to see. On arrival we chose a fairly terrible but cheap hotel and set off to find something eat. This led us to noodle soup number two, beef this time, made before our eyes in the market. The woman was very flattered that we took her picture and asked us for a copy, but I couldn't find any places for printing one out.

We returned back to the hotel and relaxed for a while before the inevitable hunger pains started again. The closest food to our hotel was, you guessed it, noodle soup. This time however, we were feeling adventurous and opted for chicken. You can't have too much of a good thing.
